Fiona Dobie, soprano
Fiona Dobie studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and then at the
Royal College of Music. She was a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Competition
and won the French song prize at s'Hertogenbosch International Singing
Competition. She has enjoyed a wide-ranging solo career with such conductors as
Sir Roger Norrington and Sir Simon Rattle, recitals and chamber music with David
Owen Norris and Malcolm Martineau and principal roles with Glyndebourne on
Tour,
the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and
Opera North. Recent work includes
Marcellina in Millennium Opera's The Marriage of Figaro, Despina in Cosė
fan tutte for The Oxford Opera Company, and Brahms' Requiem with
Oxford University Press Choir.
Fiona's delight in sharing things that inspire her lead her to run a successful
singing practice in Oxford and in London. She also gives singing workshops in
many diverse settings, including The Avalonian State Choir, Blackbird Leys
Choir, Oxford Pro Musica, Trinity College of
Music, Mothercare, Kube Consultancy
and the Royal College of Music. She is an associate teacher of New York singing
mentor David Jones
